Instagram is a hugely popular app for sharing visual content like photos, videos, and stories. It’s loved by people who want to showcase their daily life, creativity, or business.

⚙️ How does Instagram work?

Once you’ve created an account, you can:

  • Follow people or brands.
  • Like posts by tapping the heart icon.
  • Comment under photos or videos.
  • Search using the magnifying glass to find accounts or hashtags.
  • Set your profile to private or public depending on your preference.


📤 Ways to share content on Instagram

Type of Post

📸 How to share each type of post

1. Feed Post

  • Tap the plus (+) icon.
  • Choose ‘Post’.
  • Select a photo or video.
  • Add a filter, caption, location, and hashtags.
  • Tap ‘Share’.

2. Story

  • Swipe right or tap your profile photo with the plus icon.
  • Take or upload a photo/video.
  • Add stickers, text, music, or polls.
  • Tap ‘Your Story’ to post.

3. Reel

  • Tap the plus (+) and select ‘Reel’.
  • Record or upload a video.
  • Add music, effects, and text.
  • Tap ‘Next’, write a caption, and share.

4. Live Video

  • Swipe right and choose ‘Live’.
  • Add a title (optional).
  • Tap the Live button to start broadcasting.
  • Save or share the video afterward if you like.

5. Direct Message (DM)

  • Tap the paper plane icon under a post.
  • Choose a recipient.
  • Add a message (optional) and tap ‘Send’.

6. Share someone else’s post to your Story

  • Tap the paper plane icon under their post.
  • Select ‘Add to Your Story’.
  • Customize it and tap ‘Your Story’ to share.

Note: You can only do this with public profiles.


Instagram is image-based so you will need to take a screenshot of your fundraiser page and post it on your Instagram page.


If you want to add the link of your fundraiser page to the Instagram post, you have to copy the link address of your fundraiser (you can also click on the Instagram icon under the header image), go to the Instagram post you just made, click on edit and paste it in as text. Unfortunately, people cannot click on the link.


You can, however, add a clickable link to your fundraiser page in the bio. Keep it there for as long as your fundraiser is up and running. 


Tip: Make use of relevant hashtags (#). Hashtags are invaluable on Instagram. But how do you use hashtags to reach more people and create a stronger page? These should relate to the content of your post. Also look at which hashtags are trending. If your post has something to do with one of these trending hashtags, be sure to add it! Instagram allows you to add up to 30 hashtags.
